General Wesley Clark Commemorates International Human Rights Day

Little Rock - Today is International Human Rights Day, commemorating the 55th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. General Wesley Clark issued the following statement:

"The Universal Declaration of Human Rights celebrates the inherent dignity and the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the world community. It gives voice to those who are all too often voiceless Ð those who endure tyranny and terror, famine and fear. The United States must always work with the community of nations to stand up for their rights.

On Sunday I will travel to the Hague to testify in the trial of Slobodan Milosevic. This trial is a triumph for human rights throughout the world.

The struggle for human rights continues. I will always stand with those who celebrate this day and dedicate themselves to furthering the dignity and rights of all men and women."
