Date: February 8, 2004 Statement From Bill Buck
Little Rock - Clark for President National Press Secretary Bill Buck issued the following statement:
"This morning Senator Edwards claimed on ABC's This Week that the reason he voted against veterans benefits was to retain an unspecified corporate loophole that benefited unspecified farmers in North Carolina. Senator Edwards, our veterans deserve a straight answer on which farmers you were looking out for and what loophole you were defending when every other Democrat in the Senate voted the other way." Today, Senator Edwards said the following: "But George, it is part of a bigger -- you know the way these votes are. It's part of a bigger appropriations bill, full of lots of different things. Some of these particular provisions that the general's talking about directly affected farmers in North Carolina, for example. I mean, there are lots of provisions in each of these votes."
